DeCew and Steen will be launching the San Diego office of Founders Professional – the company’s fifth location. These two new hires reinforce Founders Professional’s unwavering commitment to a West Coast presence.
In these new roles, DeCew and Steen will work hand-in-hand with retail insurance agencies throughout the West in securing coverage for their clients hard-to-place professional liability and management liability insurance risks. DeCew will focus his efforts on the placement of miscellaneous professional liability risks and management liability risks across a multitude of industries, while Steen will focus his efforts on the architects and engineers marketplace – and helping retail insurance agents navigate the world of professional liability insurance in those arenas.

With over twelve years of wholesale brokerage experience, focusing solely on professional liability, Matt DeCew was a natural fit to join the miscellaneous professional liability team. A surfer vibe with a business mind – everybody will love working with Matt. His knowledge of and experience in the California marketplace will make him, along with Steen, an invaluable resource to Founder’s retail partners.

Before joining Founders Professional, Jeff Steen was an insurance broker for IOA Insurance Services where he served the insurance needs of architects and engineers throughout the Country. From 2014- 2017 Jeff served as the Treasurer for a/e ProNet, a national network of brokers who specialize in serving the insurance needs of design professionals. Additionally, Steen has earned his RPLU designation from the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS), confirming his dedication to and expertise in the professional liability arena.
